Please get acquainted with the different session formats of the Scientific Programme.

  • WIN (What Is New) and HOT (How to Treat) sessions
What-is-New and How-to-Treat-sessions cover any field of clinical interest, usually specific RMD, with the aim to review the latest developments in this field by the most distinguished experts available. This type of session usually features only one speaker on either WIN or HOT topic.

  • Basic and Translational Science sessions
Invited lectures and selected abstracts covering a basic or a translational topic.

  • Challenges in Clinical Practice
Sessions with invited lectures built around two clinical problems in rheumatology. Each problem is introduced with a case-presentation by a junior and worked out by a discussion by a field expert.

  • Clinical Science sessions
Invited lectures and embedded abstracts, built around a theme interesting and appealing to a broad audience of clinicians and researchers.

  • EMEUNET presents sessions
Invited lectures and selected abstracts on cross-sectional or educational topic or theme in its broadest meaning attracting young rheumatologists.

  • EULAR Debates
Sessions built around a controversial topic and two lectures with opposing views. First the topic and controversy are presented, audience votes, and then speakers present their arguments, followed by a second vote and discussion.

  • EULAR Project sessions
Sessions with invited lectures aimed at updating on ongoing EULAR supported projects and committees activities.

  • From Bench to Bedside sessions
Sessions with 3 invited lectures covering basic, translational and clinical aspects around a common theme, plus selected abstracts.

  • Health Professionals sessions
Invited lectures and selected abstracts focusing on fields of interest of HPR.

  • Highlights sessions
These sessions summarise the most important and newsworthy novelties of the annual congress in three parallel 60-mins. presentations at the end of the congress.

  • Joint sessions
Sessions of common interest that feature speakers from the three pillars of EULAR and/or associated organisations.
EULAR is always open to a constructive collaboration but will not offer joint sessions with other national societies nor with other leagues or organisations, because the EULAR Congress is not the place for such collaboration.

  • Innovation sessions
Sessions with lectures covering innovative topics in rheumatology with an interactive and stimulating structure.

  • Meet The EULAR Expert (MTE) sessions
These sessions offer the opportunity to discuss with experts about important topics in an informal way. The experts will briefly introduce the topic of interest and then open the discussion based on attendees questions. Attendance to the Meet the EULAR Expert sessions is limited to 25 participants.

  • Oral abstract sessions
The best evaluated submitted abstracts of a topic are presented in a 10-minute talk (including discussion) by one of the authors.

  • PARE sessions
Invited lectures and selected abstracts focusing on interests of people with RMD.

  • Poster tour
Highly evaluated submitted abstracts of a topic are presented by one of the authors (5 min) and discussed by the poster tour chairs and attendants.

  • Poster Viewing
During this time slot (60 min), poster presenters stand in front of their poster and discuss their work with visitors of the poster exhibition.

  • Practical Skills sessions
Sessions for practicing skills and close interaction with a teacher or an expert. It can either be a hands-on or another interaction format (slides and discussion), but implies feed-back from the teacher or expert.
